This article examines the specific features of teaching English translation to students in correctional institutions in the context of current requirements for the professional training of specialists in the penal system. It justifies the relevance of developing translation competence as a component of professional training, driven by Ukraine's integration into the international legal and educational spheres, the need to work with international documents, and the need to comply with human rights standards. The main shortcomings of the traditional foreign language teaching system are analysed, in particular the insufficient attention paid to the practical aspects of translation and the limited use of digital technologies. Leading innovative approaches to translation teaching are identified, including: the digitalisation of the educational process, the integration of CAT tools, professionally oriented learning, interactive methods, the case method, micro-learning, and the development of intercultural competence. The importance of using authentic materials, simulations of professional situations and post-editing technologies for machine translation is emphasised. It is demonstrated that the combination of modern pedagogical and information technologies ensures the development of linguistic, analytical, communicative and technological competences among students. It is concluded that the introduction of innovative methods of teaching translation contributes to improving the quality of training for specialists in the prison system, their compliance with international standards, and effective professional activity in the context of globalisation.
